Wallmounted Mailboxes Add Curb Appeal And Security

Many people don't stop to the think about their mailboxes. But wallmounted mailboxes can be not only more secure than those that are on free-standing posts, they can also be like works of art that reflect your tastes or enhance the look of your home.

It might sound strange to say, but I really enjoy going to check my wallmounted mailbox on days when the mail gets delivered. I have a lot of pride when going to my box, because I feel like I am walking up to an artwork that I have carefully chosen to enhance the beauty and the character of my house and, by extension, my front yard.

It just so happens that my wallmounted mailbox is a 16-gauge galvanized steel shadowbox mailbox. I chose this one, which has the design of a pinetree's branch on it, because I live in a rustic neighborhood--in fact, I live in a log cabin (yes, it's built out of real logs--but don't worry, the interior is fully modernized and quite spacious!). The whole mailbox, the front piece with the artwork, and background panel are all made out of galvanized steel. All of the hinges and the hardware are made out of stainless steel. The hardware itself is powder-coated to match the finish of the mailbox and the artwork. In other words, I've got a mailbox that is gorgeous, durable, and secure.

But, I've seen that there are wallmounted mailboxes that can be found to go along with any decor and any tastes. Whitehall boxes, high security townhouse boxes, Victorian boxes, boxes in the form of steamer trunks...and on and on and on. I've seen them all. If you want to add a touch of class, sophistication, and extra security to your mail-receiving experience, a wallmounted mailbox is your answer.

Now, of course, as I said earlier, this may sound very weird and strange to you. I mean, who cares, right? It's just your mailbox. It's there to serve one simple function--to receive (or send) snail mail. Well, the way I see things, that's one of the drawbacks of our modern world: everyone is worried about functionality to the point where we forget about the meaning of pleasing shape and form and aesthetic beauty. Consider if you decided to put up a yard fence--would you just put up some gray steel fence? Or would you try to put up a nice-looking fence, one that went along with your home? Of course, you would choose the latter. Well, why should your choice of mailbox be any different?

Then, consider the scary fact that perhaps the number one rising crime today is identity theft. If you have a secure mailbox that is mounted on the wall of your house, would-be identify thieves are going to shy away from your house and your mailbox. They work by stealth, and if they need to come into your yard and get too close to your house they may be spotted by neighbors, by your security system, or...by you, if you are home unexpectedly.

Do yourself a favor. Get outside of the mental box and check out wallmounted mailboxes. Liven up your place!
